Cryolipolysis

Excess body fat in certain areas of the body can be persistent and difficult to reduce, despite exercising or dieting. Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive treatment of fatty tissue removal using low temperature. Special cooling applicators allow the treatment to be performed on any area of the body.

The cryolipolysis procedure is a non-invasive fat reduction procedure, which destroys fat cells by the cooling process and absorbed by the body’s natural system (lymphatic and liver systems). The cooling applicator of the device sucks the skin and crystallizes adipose tissue without damaging adjacent nerves and tissues. Crystallized fat cells die and are naturally removed from the body. The amount of fat remaining is small and its density is lower.

The mechanism of cryolipolysis is essentially based on the scientific assumption that adipocytes (fat cells) are more prone to cooling than other cells. The supply of cooling energy causes fat cells to die, and these fat cells are eventually absorbed by the surrounding macrophages.

Apoptosis is a form of programmed cell death and the process of apoptosis is controlled and predictable.

Cryolipolysis is dedicated to reducing body fat in the most stubborn areas:

  • abdomen,
  • sides,
  • shoulder,
  • bra line on the back,
  • armpits,
  • thighs,
  • knees
  • chin.

What is the convalescence process?

Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive procedure, it does not leave any wounds. Therefore, the regeneration time is short after the procedure. Most people resume routine daily activities immediately, although there may be slight redness or pain that usually subsides within hours or days.

What is the treatment schedule?

  • 1 to 3 days after procedure: an enzyme called caspase 3 initiates apoptosis.
  • 7 days after procedure: the structure of fat cells begins to break down due to disrupted and contracted fat cells.
  • 14 to 30 days after procedure: dissolved fat cells are absorbed by macrophages and slowly disappear as a result of the body’s natural process.
  • 90 days after procedure: apoptosis and the body’s natural process do not cause any harm or downtime with satisfactory results

Side effects:

  • Mild pain
  • Bruising (resolves in a few days to 2 weeks)
  • Redness or swelling
  • Itching
  • Stiffness
  • Numbness

These effects are temporary and disappear naturally within a few days or weeks.

Side effects, including double chin treatment:

  • Limited movement of the tongue and lips
  • Dry mouth
  • Reduced production of saliva

How much body fat is lost during the procedure?

After the first treatment, 20% of body fat is lost. Depending on the thickness of the adipose tissue in a given area, another treatment may be performed 4 weeks after the procedure. The final result of the treatment is obtained after about 3 months.

It is recommended to support the treatment with a series of lymphatic massages.

Is the procedure safe?

Cryolipolysis safely freezes the unwanted fatty tissue. Many studies have indicated that cryolipolysis is safe and effective with very low risk, as it is a non-invasive treatment. Cryolipolysis has received FDA approval for fat reduction since 2010 and since then, a huge number of patients have been treated with this procedure worldwide.

According to studies, it has been proven that cryolipolysis does not lead to changes in serum lipids or liver tests at any of the measured time points after surgery.

During the procedure, the inflammatory process occurs when fat cells die due to exposure to cooling energy. But this does not significantly increase blood ESR results as the process is very natural and fat cells are gradually removed from the body’s lymphatic systems.
