The CO₂ fractional laser is a modern tool in the fight against skin imperfections, such as discoloration, wrinkles and scars. In the hands of an experienced specialist, it can be an alternative to minor surgical procedures. It is an ideal treatment for this time of the year, autumn lower temperatures will ease the healing and convalescence period, thanks to which we can enjoy flawless skin for Christmas and carnival!
The CO₂ fractional laser technology is based on the use of a high-energy laser beam. During the treatment, extremely precise light pulses are sent to remove the unwanted top layers of the epidermis, as well as to cause microdamages of the skin at a deeper level. Cells stimulated by the work of the laser begin to intensively produce collagen.
As a result of this treatment, there are minimal losses of the epidermis, which will be naturally rebuilt by our body in the convalescence process.
Treatments with the use of a CO₂ fractional laser can be used to get rid of many aesthetic skin problems, in particular to reduce and remove:
- Wrinkles,
- Discoloration,
- Stretch marks,
- Furrows,
- Widened pores,
- skin lesions such as fibromas,
- acne scars,
- post-traumatic scars.
The laser is also ideal for improving the condition of the skin. Thanks to its use, you can get the effect of smoothing out wrinkles, moisturizing, evening out the color, improving elasticity and even reducing the effect of oily skin. It can also be said with certainty that the CO₂ fractional laser, thanks to the stimulation of natural skin renewal processes, rejuvenates the appearance and the skin after its use is smoother, tighter and firmer. Patients often compare the effects of a CO2 fractional laser with a facelift.
Most often, this treatment is used in the area of the entire face, neck and neckline to uniformly improve the condition of the skin or eliminate wrinkles or acne scars, while it is also possible to use the laser locally – for post-traumatic scars and stretch marks all over the body (in particular the abdomen, breasts, buttocks, thighs). The use of a laser around the eyes is also very popular.
It should be remembered that if you have any doubts about the procedure, please inform the dermatologist, Dr. Kamila Stachura, who will professionally assess the possibilities and predispositions of each person to perform this procedure and adjust the treatment accordingly.
Preparation for the procedure consists in thoroughly cleansing the skin and applying an anesthetic ointment to the area that will be subjected to laser therapy. The anesthesia will take effect after approximately 45 minutes. After this time, the doctor starts the procedure, which usually lasts up to an hour.
The first visible effects can be observed about 14 days after the treatment. Of course, it depends on the treatment area and the parameters used by the dermatologist. The target skin metamorphosis is an effect visible after about two months. Depending on the problem with which the patient reports, the procedure should be repeated from 2 to even 6 times. It all depends on the condition of the area to be treated and the individual predisposition of the body to rebuild the skin and the depth of the lesions.
One cannot fail to mention the typical stages of convalescence and the consequences of CO₂ fractional laser treatment. Immediately after its application, the skin is red, rough and swollen. This condition can last for about 6-7 days, so it is recommended to stay at home during this time and take special care of skin hydration. You should not expose the skin to the sun and extreme temperatures, or use opaque makeup in the case of treatments around the face. That is why this treatment is highly recommended in fall, when air temperatures are much lower, but not invasively frosty for the skin. High air humidity in autumn also has a beneficial effect on areas irritated after the treatment, and the summer sun will not dry the epidermis.
We recommend this treatment to all patients who have been struggling with skin imperfections for a long time and want to get rid of permanent defects once and for all, but also to those who want to achieve spectacular results of rejuvenated and supple skin with one specific treatment. The treatment is especially recommended by the patients of the Dr Stachura Clinic.
